Digital repository gathers and permanently stores results of scientific, intellectual and creative property of a certain institution (institutional repository) or materials in the same scientific field (thematic repository). Digital repository increases visibility, frequency of citation and transparency of the institution. Furthermore, it accelerates information sharing in the scientific and academic community. Materials stored in a digital repository are permanently protected from loss. This digital repository is created within the Digital Academic Archives and Repositories (DABAR) system. DABAR enables scientific institutions and institutions of higher education to permanently store their digital materials in one place, while the technological issues related to establishing and maintaining the repository are Srce's responsibility. All materials stored in a digital repository can be easily organized, searched and browsed. Objects that can be stored in DABAR are students' B.A. and M.A. theses, dissertations, pre-print papers, peer-reviewed articles, conference papers, research data, books, teaching materials, images, video and audio files, and presentations. To improve searchability, all materials have to be described with predetermined set of metadata. Authors store their materials independently, while repository administrator validates the materials and updates incomplete metadata records.
